Physical Therapy

Gaining Mobility with Strength, Balance, and Coordination

Our Physical Therapists are pediatric movement experts.  Through the process of examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and intervention they use their clinical judgement to develop individualized and unique functional mobility exercise programs.  At TLC we promote independence, increase participation, enhance learning opportunities, improve strength and endurance, and facilitate motor development. Pediatric Physical Therapists also teach children and their families about safety and home exercises, since improving physical function often requires daily practice.

Goals of Our Physical Therapy Program

  • Maximize function in developmental milestones, gross motor skills, and mobility.
  • Improve strength, range of motion, and endurance.
  • Focus on balance and coordination.
  • Promote postural control, alignment and body awareness.
  • Use adaptive equipment and bracing to facilitate independence.
  • Encourage access to the community for participation in sports and recreational activities.
  • Support self-advocacy, inclusion, family education and training, and a comprehensive approach to healthcare and medical needs.
